What about Panama?
There is more to do in Panama than just see the Canal! This often overlooked country is a gem for bird watchers, divers, snorkelers, sailing enthusiasts and adventurers. The low cost of activities and living make Panama a wonderful place for your vacation. Panama City is surprisingly metropolitan and has plenty of shopping, sight seeing, historical sites and exotic culture right in the city. Take a sunrise hike in the butterfly filled Parque Metropolitano, go out for Sangria and Lobster (surprisingly affordable!) for Lunch, wander through the charmingly romantic streets of the colonial district of Casco Viejo and watch the sun set over the 16th century ruins of the pirate sacked Panama La Vieja. When you finish that, you can go out dancing at one of the many lively clubs with friendly people and great music. It is difficult to be bored in Panama City. There is plenty to do for you and your family.
Panama has been only recently discovered as a tourist destination. Right now, American, Canadian, British, Australian and European people have been flocking to Panama as a place to make a new home. The low cost of living and the country's beauty make it a great place to live or retire. Many of the tourists I meet who come to Panama have decided to stay permanently!
My husband and I moved to Panama in 2002 after falling in love with it on a tourism visit. We bought a flat in Panama City and made it our much loved home. Unfortunately, in 2005, health issues made me return to Europe to be closer to my family and we had to leave our home. Now, we rent it to travelers so they can enjoy the home and the beauty of Panama. Since both my husband and I work in the computer industry and we both work from home, we set up a nice office in the flat to be our workplace. That office is now for the visitor in case you need to do business while on your stay, or just want to surf the net.
We hope that you find Panama as welcoming and charming as we do. We go back every year to enjoy Panama and all it has to offer. You should to! Have fun!
Best regards,
Lily Daksovek
